May Dinner Club  W.I.T.

Upcoming Dinner:  May
Hostess:  Couscous
Theme:  Mother Goose Rhymes
APRIL DINNER CLUB

Here comes HONEY!

No, not that Honey!  This Honey:

Saucy's sweet inspiration for her dinner theme was this jar of honey she picked up in Florida
but we will get to this a bit later.

First, her bee-utiful decorations
Beeswax Candle
Inspiring statements to "be"

and napkin holders and Honey Almond Butter favors!

Grapes "bee"gan the evening with a honey whiskey cocktail that was smooth and sure to cure any potential colds.  We may want to get sick, just to have more of this!!

We then "dipped" into her Champagne-Honey fondue with apples, bread and carrots!

Couscous kept the evening "buzzing" with an edamame salad with a honey ginger dressing

and she made an attempt at an Outback style honey wheat bread and honey butter.  The butter was yum, but the homemade bread left something to be desired!

Couscous wine of choice was "The Bees" Les Abeilles by Jean-Luc a red wine in which proceeds go to Honey Bee Research

Saucy was the "queen" of the evening with her mouth-watering honey teriakyi glazed chicken and salmon that she prepared on the grill.

Sadly, Paprika couldn't join the "hive" of activity at dinner club, but she did send over her labor-intensive baklava!!  It was the bee's knees!!

Check back next time
when we will all pick a rhyme
and fix a course that will be sublime!

MARCH DINNER RECAP

Don the masks, string the beads, let the party begin!!

Paprika hosted a fantastic night of Fat Tuesday festivities!

Saucy began the bacchanalia with Bourbon Street style shrimp and chicken.

and Creole deviled eggs......

With a devilish serving fork!

All together now!

Her wine tribute to Bacchus was an Oyster Bay Pinot Noir

Paprika's marvelous main course was a traditional muffuletta (olive salad, salami, ham, provolone, mozzarella)

and not so traditional a/k/a vegetarian muffuletta (olive salad, peppers, provolone, mozzarella)

Grapes' scrumptuous side dishes: a Southern speciality - Fried Green Tomatoes with a spicy sauce!

and King's Slaw (green cabbage, purple cabbage, yellow pepper and a spicy horseradish dressing)

Her selection for the evening's "Salute!" was a Sauvignon Blanc by Natura

Couscous concluded the evening with a Mardi Gras tradition:  the King's Cake!

Grapes discovered the lucky piece which means she will not only have good luck to come, but must also be the hostess of next year's Mardi Gras festivities!

Unfortunately, the traditional baby proved to be difficult to find, so Couscous improvised...

Yes, it is a toy solider good luck charm (work with it!)

Beeeee on the lookout for next month's blog to catch all the buzzzzz about dinner club!

Upcoming Dinner:  March

FEBRUARY DINNER RECAP

After a month hiatus, We're Ba-ack!!!!

Grapes welcomed us with a "subway" board and menu board of the evening's edibles!

As always, she had a beautiful table display!

While sadly none of us are a true "ginger", nor did we dye our "roots" for this month's dinner club...

we did try to fashion our own original dishes from this sassy plant - GINGER!

Grapes got the party started with Moscow Mules

No, not THAT mule!  THESE tasty mules

Paprika had us ready to pull a cart to be rewarded

with Gingered Carrot Latkes and Apple, Green Onion and Jalapeno Salsa

Grapes' first attempt at tofu was a success!!! (No, tofu does NOT have the flavor of straw!).

She created flavorful ginger/coconut tofu and ginger/coconut chicken bites over pineapple rice.

She also had candied ginger for sampling, that had quite a kick!

Candied Ginger

Couscous' stubborn side dish of Ginger Carrot Soup was tasty, well what was left anyway after some tricky traffic maneuvers on the way to dinner club.

Saucy completed the evening

with a wonderfully warm Ginger Pear Crisp over frozen yogurt, Ginger Snaps and Ginger Tea!

Yet another successful night of good eats and lots of hee-hawing!

Join us next month when we "Laissez les bon temps rouler!"
